Winter

Path to Balarés

Don't let winter be an impediment to exploring these paths! Choose the mildest days to enjoy the changes brought about by the cold in the intertidal area and seascape.

The steely blueness of the sea and the strong smell of salt arising from the waves will share your path during the nearly 12 kilometres of the Camiño da Ribeira route (Gr PR-148) between Ponteceso and Corme.

It's somewhat longer if you have breath enough to feel the splendour of the Costa da Morte's landscape along the alternative stretch between Corme and Cape Roncudo, or if you return to the capital of the municipality via the bypass that ascends from the Pedra da Serpe to the Alto dos Loureiros and ends at Monte Branco (PRG-148.1).

Along the Pondalian route, you'll find the plant life fast asleep, but the bare branches and the muted greens will also be an incentive to pay a visit the fourteen monoliths located between the municipal capital and the viewpoint on Mount Branco while reading each of the poems written by Eduardo Pondal.

Winter is also time to see the spectacle of the storms right beside the sea. One thing for sure: take care to warm up in any of the establishments belonging to the Tourism Facilitators Network, or listening to the rain while seeing the works at the Fundación Torre-Pujales at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de la Costa da Morte (Costa da Morte Museum of Contemporary Art) in Corme.

Don't forget to exercise extreme caution in slippery places and be careful with the rising tides along certain parts of the path.
