O Osmo beach

This is a crescent-shaped beach located in semi-urban surroundings, very close to the A Arnela beach and the village of Corme Porto which is reached (200 m) via a pleasant stone path along the Camino da Ribeira Route (PR-G 148). Boasting fine white sand, it is well protected from the wind and its relatively gentle waves make for a gentle swim. It has all required services, including toilets adapted for people with disabilities. On the horizon you can see mussel rafts and the mooring area for boats in the port of Corme (500 m from the beach).

The Corme-born anthropologist Manuel Cousillas Rodriguez tells the story (Literatura popular en la Costa de la Muerte - Popular Literature on the Costa de la Muerte-, 1998) that in Furna do Osmo (which in recent years has hosted a summer folk-rock music festival) lived a "green demon" that lured sailors so that they would shipwreck on these cliffs. Then the Virgin of A Estrela left the chapel on the island and came and cast out this devil. As evidence of this miracle, the "footsteps" of the Virgin can still be found between the beaches of O Osmo and A Ermida.
