Jaime Valdés Parga (Santiago de Compostela, 1926), poet Eduardo Pondal grandnephew, met the family history in the book "Ponteceso, how a village was built ", a written testimony of local history which, through this initiative "Ponteceso. Os Camiños do Mar" we wanted to add his voice. The development was possible because of Cesáreo Pondal´s leadership between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
In the port located opposite the birthplace of poet Eduardo Pondal there was agreat commercial traffic flowing into Corme and Laxe Estuary and thence to the Atlantic Ocean. Ships loaded with wheat, rye or beans, all Bergantiños products, started from here in the late nineteenth century. The wood came from as far afield as Riga, the capital of the Republic of Latvia, and from Buenos Aires (Argentina) came the leather.
